GENSYN/ REUNION
REUNION (in Danish: GENSYN) is an art project focused on storytelling and passing on the local historical heritage of the Limfjord island of Mors.

In REUNION, I collaborated with Museum Mors, Morsø Local History Archive and the Limfjord Theatre to convey old photographs from the archive and local historical narratives from a historical, artistic, and sensory perspective.

I reviewed thousands of photographs at the local history archive and created a series of collages, where fragments of the old images were combined into a new, surreal reality. Every element in the collages, including the backgrounds, was crafted using material from the museum's archives. Each fragment is documented so that all pieces can be traced back to their origins and original stories.

The collages and their new narratives create a bridge between the past and the present, between reality and fantasy and between the internal and external worlds. They become deeply personal interpretations of the island's history and aim to demonstrate that there are many ways to see and understand the past.
The works have become part of a permanent, publicly accessible exhibition at the Limfjord Theatre in Nykøbing Mors.
As part of the project, we also collaborated with local schools, where students explored the archives, learned about their local history and created new stories through analogue and digital collage workshops.
You can see a gallery of the student's works here

REUNION was supported by the North Jutland cultural agreement KulturKANten and the Danish Arts Foundation (Statens Kunstfond).
